Trout Fishing at Wimbleball Lake
This is a Troutmaster water.
Wimbleball Lake, Somerset, TA22 9NU
Wimbleball will be operating as a low cost fishery in 2017 for overwintered Rainbows up to 7lbs and wild Browns up to 5lbs. Browns are catch and release only, a good head of wild Brown Trout can be found all over the reservoir with fish in excess of 4lbs regularly caught. There is a good mayfly hatch in late June/early July. Popular patterns are the diawl bach, pheasant tail nymph, and gold ribbed hares ear. Floating lines are the best method throughout the season as fish can be found cruising sub surface, while Intermediate and sinking lines work well in early and late season.
Flyaking is also available, so come and fish from a Kayak, you can bring your own, or hire ours. Float tubing is also available but we do not provide the tubes. The wheelyboat for disabled anglers should be booked 48 hours in advance via the Wimbleball activity centre. The South West Fishing For Life project for women recovering from breast cancer is also based at Wimbleball. Traditional boat fishing is not available in 2017
